Five Fantastic Lighting Decorations To Try This Christmas

Where has 2016 gone? We can’t believe Christmas is only around the corner! With only a month left until our homes are cluttered with obligatory dinners with our in-laws and friends, I'm sure you’ll want to leave a lasting impression. We’re going to show you how to give your home the Space Shack Christmas treatment! We have three words for you; LIGHTS, LIGHTS and LIGHTS!

1. The Doorway

Your front door is your first impression, you want your guests to be led in with a WOW! Give your front door some pampering with some grand fairy lit garlands. If you’re a bit of a minimalist and enjoy the simple things in life, then this is the perfect way to decorate your front door in seconds.

For us here at Space Shack, our favourite thing about this particular garland is it looks great just sitting on it’s own, woven through railings or candy cane, around a newel at the bottom of the stairs - all of which requires minimal effort, meaning more time for wine and mince pies (sounds perfect to me!) If you do fancy adding that little bit extra to your decoration, tie some baubles around the clusters in complimenting colours as a final touch.

3. The Christmas Tree

You can’t say it’s Christmas until your Christmas tree is up! It’s a known fact that the bigger the tree, the better! If you want to give your tree an extra bit of pizazz, here’s a tip from us - wrap some fairy lights around the spine of the tree to really brighten up your home!

4. The Mantelpiece

Give your mantelpiece a touch of festive flare this Christmas and create stunning displays to rival those in the glossy magazines, for half the price and half the effort. Depending on the length of your mantelpiece and the look you want to achieve, cover the top of your fireplace and trail down the sides to create a beautiful glow once illuminated.

If your style is classic and traditional, team the warm white cluster lights on black cable with a green leafy garland and add some red or gold baubles for a really full and classic display. If you have more of a contemporary home, go for the crisp white LED’s on a clear cable and partner with metallic hues and muted shades such as white, silver or grey for a modern feel. Add some final touches to your fireplace with some pillar candles and tea lights and pop some copper wire lights inside mason jars and lanterns to complete your festive look.

5. The Window Display

Leave a lasting impression and welcome your guests in style with a winning window display. Simply place the a light garland on your window sill for an effortless yet elegant decoration that casts a warm and inviting glow across the room, or get your creative thinking cap on and attach the garland to the window frame for a fabulous festive flare.
