Marvin's Victorian Home Makeover - The Living Room and Hallway

Client: Marvin
Location: Victorian House in Ilford
Dwelling: House
The Space: Living Room, Kitchen, Hallway & Children's Bedroom
Size: 75 square metres

Last week we revealed the Kitchen area of Marvin and his family's Victorian home, and today we take a look at their brand new Living Room and Hallway. The requirements were much more simple than the previous room, yet these rooms had to retain the style and look which ran throughout the house.

The Brief:

  • Provide new furnishings throughout all spaces
  • Source artwork in accordance with his design scheme
  • Update the existing run down living area and incorporate the colour tan brown
  • Refresh the hallway area and make more practical
  • New flooring throughout the apartment

The Transformation

Marvin's wife absolutely loves the colour tan brown, so we opted to introduce this colour with the living room furnishings, in particular, the leather sofa with a matching Wing Chair from West Elm with an expansive floor rug in complimentary sea blue. This makes for a much warmer comfy look feel to the rest of the spaces in the house.

We hung new artwork on the walls sourced by Artsnug again and introduced a full-length mirror to give the narrow space light and the illusion of space, along with a baton-shelf which doubles as a coat rail. We also made the decision to get rid of the small toilet to make way for a larger kitchen, so as a compromise we created a small cloakroom toilet underneath the stairs in the hallway.

Next week we show you our favourite room, the children's bedroom. A makeover Space Shack has been dying to do for a very long time. Can't wait to show you the final room and finished results!
