INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND TELL US WHERE YOU’RE BASED

Hello there, I'm Christina Karoulla and I'm based in Shoreditch, in East London.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR A LIVING?

I own a small but beautiful homeware and accessories shop called Decorum which is right on Shoreditch High Street, so if you're ever in the area please check us out!

DESCRIBE YOUR DESIGN STYLE IN THREE WORDS

Eclectic, Industrial, Moody. And Danish. Sorry, I realise that's actually four.

EXPLAIN WHY YOU CHOSE TO COLLABORATE WITH SPACE SHACK?

Space Shack share a similar style and ethos with Decorum, so it seemed a natural fit for us. Also, Omar's charm is very hard to resist and we enjoy working with him.

WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE DESIGNER PLACE TO SHOP?

I absolutely love Copenhagen with its beautiful shops, cafes and restaurants. My shopping tastes have strong Danish influences and I've always been drawn to mid-century style. There is an abundance of great designer furniture and furnishings in Copenhagen, wherever you look and being there makes me smile.

WHO IS THE BIGGEST INFLUENCE ON YOUR WORK?

My influences are from anywhere I can take it. I do find myself being inspired by the last century though. Especially architects and designers such as Eero SaarinenCharles and Ray Eames and Frank Lloyd Wright - The Icons of Design, of course.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SPACE IN YOUR HOME?

My living room. It’s an eclectic space which I've curated over the years, and I’ve added pieces of furniture and accessories that I found in London and while I've travelled the globe – they all tell a small story about my life and the things I treasure. Those items are unique and special to me.

DO YOU HAVE ANY DESIGN ADVICE?

My design advice is simple. Choose pieces you believe to be beautiful. Find Items that are well made, have integrity and that you would want to pass down to future generations as these will become classics design pieces for our generation one day.
